Hurricane Clean-UP

Pool with a lot of debris

Post Hurricane Pool Guide

In the wake of a hurricane, it’s important to take the proper steps to restore your pool safely and avoid long-term damage. Here’s what to do:

Clean Debris Before Running The Pump

* Remove branches, leaves, mulch, or any other debris from the pool to prevent clogging the pump's suction lines.

* If you need to enter the pool to remove debris, wear sturdy shoes to protect your feet.

Restore Power Safely

* If you lost power during the storm, reset your circuit breakers and pump timers once electricity is restored, ensuring everything is completely dry beforehand.

* Remove any coverings from the pump motor or other equipment to allow proper airflow.

* If the pump motor was submerged, have it professionally checked before use.

Return Water Levels and Circulation

* Bring the pool water back to its normal level.

* Empty the pump and skimmer baskets, and open the appropriate valves to restore proper water circulation.

Repair Safety Barriers

* Inspect and repair or replace any damaged screens, doors, fences, or gates used to prevent children from accessing the pool unattended. It is also possible that your insurance carrier will require you to put up a temporary barrier, until full repairs are made.
