We keep a constant track of the hurricane cone through the Weather Channel. Normally, a few days before the storm is due to hit, we provide this service if our customers are within the main areas of the cone.
Do not drain your pool. Proper levels of water should be maintained as pressure from excessive groundwater can cause your pool to lift or pop out. If you decide to lower the water it can not go below skimmer as running your pool pump dry can cause serious damage.
Leave your pool running as long as safely possible.
If there is a chance the pool motor or other permanently plumbed electrical equipment could be submerged, shut down power at the breaker panel. Sandbag the area around the equipment if possible. Wrap the exposed equipment in a waterproof covering and tie it securely.
If you have a gas heater turn the supply off at the valve.
Unfortunately, because of time constraints our techs do not have the time to help out with this type of service. They are normally on a very large time crunch to get everyone taken care of and get back to provide the necessary things to their own residents, or evacuate if necessary. DO NOT PUT ANY ITEMS INTO THE POOL!
Like all the other outdoor items, they need to be stored in a safe place.
Try to keep what you can from becoming airborn. Not only can it help protect your home, but also the lanai and pool equipment.
